Hah!

I never fail to laugh everytime I read this:-

After every flight, Qantas pilots (ed: urm, I cannot be sure abt the airline! Will not take any responsibility) fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken, and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humour. Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems as submitted by Qantas pilots and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had a major accident.

(P = The problem logged by the pilot.)
(S = The solution and action taken by the engineers.)

P: Left inside main tyre almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tyre.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what they're there for.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: You're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Reality Sinking In

I don't want to leave yet.
I don't want to pack, no not just yet.
I don't want to get up early for work.
I don't want to make decisions.
I don't want to leave my doggy.
I don't want to leave my family.
I don't want to leave my grandma... no not just yet.

But it's got to happen.
It's time to go.

An Eventful Day

It's either you have nothing to do the whole day or you have many things line up one after another.

Yesterday was one of those days. The previous night I already had insufficient sleep due to my relative's elaborated wedding dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It was my first time there and boy, was it grand! And guess who the guest singer was: Amy from Search. Not that I really fancy him. It was the groom's favourite singer (what duh?) and they both sang Isabella (oh dear!). Shucks, I knew I should have brought my digcam.

After church, I indulge myself in a newly opened restaurant in Bukit Tinggi called Tasteheaven. The servings were big for our la-la porridge and la-la fried mee hoon. Yumm! Sorry no pictures!

Twenty minutes later, I was in Fruity's, our local cake and bakery hangout place. Met more of my high school mates, some of whom I havent seen for 6 years! Good to know everyone's working/finishing off their studies. I feel old.

Indian Food!

It was great catching up with my high school friends. Havent seen them for more than 2 years. I hope to hear wedding bells soon from you-know-who!

Khyber is a great place to get moghul food. We enjoyed chicken curry, prawn masala, potato & cauliflower combo, and mutton curry, complimented with naan, briyani rice and papadum. Yummy yum!

Me, KP, Ah Tok, Saik, Angela and Daph.

After that, we adjourned to Daph's place to watch Malaysian Idol live. I cant believe I rejected a free ticket to watch it live in Genting. But I suppose, catching up with old friends was more important and precious. Ahh... those were the days.

Help Me

It's a dilemma. Most people only have one job offer. I have two and am already worried. I don't want to make a wrong decision and regret it later.

I got a call Monday morning from Melbourne (darn! I had to pay for that call too.Stupid auto-roaming charges). But it was good news. I have been offered the graduate position with one of Asia Pacific's largest and most experienced engineering consulting firms. They have a strong association with a UK engineering giant.

On the other hand, I have already accepted the job earlier with a renown steel company in Australia. This job is mainly dealing with automation work, machinery and design. More hands-on work than consulting of course. More valuable experience than sitting in the office designing of course. But I'm only a female!

Hey most females prefer office work, like ME! I'd rather sit in the office, get to dress in my suit, go tender for projects, attend meetings, do design work and stay put in lovely Melbourne.... as oppose to wearing safety helmets, goggles, uniforms, listening to noisy machines, exposing myself to risk of injury, and getting myself miserable with no friends, no OCF, no church, no one. I'd have to start all over again. Yes, the hands-on job requires me to relocate.

Sigh touch decision but I must make it soon!

Just hang in there!

Postponed Again

It's still early in the morning. Woke up at 7am. Wanted to go to the Lembaga Tabung Haji building in town to make the Malaysian Smart Card, our new identification card. Suddenly the phone rang.

Dad: There's too many people lining up. And the doors have not even opened! (It was 7.30am)
Mum: What? Already?
Dad: Yah, there are like more than 100 people queueing up!
Mum: Well I told you to go earlier to get the number so that we dont have to wait in line. Looks like we have to postpone it again to tommorow.

Again? Yesterday dad's car had a flat battery and couldnt start. Today a queue of 100 people seemed too long a wait. What will happen tomorrow morning?

Just a thought.

I Sense Jealousy

For everyone in Melbourne who knows why I'm back in good ol' Klang, thank you for your prayers, support and online messages. She is still in hospital but we really don't know for how long more.

Anyway I have started devouring the food here the moment I touched down. My mum wants to fatten me up. I challenged her to do so coz I know the food aint going nowhere! Hah!

So far these are the fantastic dishes eaten in 4 days here:
Bah Kut Teh (yum!)
Char Kuey Teow (twice!)
Crab Noodles
Salted Prawns
Prawn Noodles
Steamed Pomfret
Chendol
Popiah
Oyster Omelette (commonly known as "OrJien" in Hokkien)

Sorry I was too busy eating that I didnt take any photos. There will be plenty the next time!

Just as well...

Peer Pressure

Yes I have succumbed to peer pressure. Peer presure DROVE me to create this blog. It wasnt me.

I was initially skeptical about this blogging thing.

Why would you want to let the whole world know what you have been up to?

Why share your personal photos?

Hey everyone's reading about you....Yuck!

My privacy has just been invaded!

But then again, I was skeptical about Friendster. I enjoy it now so much, finding old friends whom I have lost touch with.

Why not give Bloggie a go?
